Update: As part of the province-wide effort to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, we have cancelled our 2020 March Break Camp. Full refunds will be issued to those who have already registered.
Our 2020 March Break Chess Camp offers a week full of chess and other activities for the young chess player in your family! It’s a unique five-day experience that incorporates intensive chess lessons, engaging physical activities, special creative projects, along with unique programming and events, making it a rich March Break chess experience for everyone!
Daily camp activities for each age group are organized around a daily theme, each theme being an important aspect of chess, such as Patience or Imagination, which is crucial to the successful player’s mindset.
Ingrid is creating an exciting curriculum for the 2020 Camp around these themes which guarantees a well-rounded, exciting experience – chess lessons that build skills and strategies for success are enhanced by connections to challenging off-the-board activities. For example, hilarious drama and theatre workshops with Rose build the improvisational and imaginative skills that must be applied in chess to find brilliant moves.
Did you know that, according to a recent study, professional chess players can burn up to 6,000 Calories per day during a tournament? That’s more than three times what an average person consumes in a day! Physical activities for young chess warriors at Camp include martial arts workshops with Sebastien on Thursday and Friday.
All our Camp Group Leaders are skilled in teaching groups of children that have a diverse range of chess knowledge and proficiency, from complete beginners to strong tournament players. Advanced lessons at the 2020 Camp taught by FIDE Master Michael Humphreys, even the strongest players will learn a lot!
Register on a daily drop-in basis, or sign up for the full week!
