For over a thousand years, the game of chess has drawn a devoted following in nations all around the globe. And yet its true potential as an educational tool has only more recently begun to be realized. Chess Institute of Canada is a world leader in curriculum-based scholastic chess programming, where the ancient game is used as a vehicle for delivering profound life lessons for the challenges of today.
As various rotating strikes are happening around Ontario, please note that all our in-class programs, lunch and after-school clubs will be cancelled if the school is closed.
Clubs and classes at other schools not affected by the strike on that day, including those in other public boards, private and Jewish schools, as well as evening community classes will run as usual.

There are many opportunities to support various facets of our mission. High school volunteers are welcome role models and helpers at our camps, chess clubs, and tournaments. Congregations and community groups can adopt a school chess program in their neighbourhood. And we rely on regular annual, monthly, and one-time donors to keep bringing our invaluable programs to the individuals and communities that need them most.
